Just got done reading the book
After I had just read the Anthony Kiedas bio (full of sex, drugs & Flea) page after page, chapter after chapter the shockingness of it all started to wear down and eventually get hella-boring.
So this new book 'Thoughts are Unfinished Dreams' was a breathe of fresh air!
It wasn't a bio with a lot of dirt but it was sweet and a good read!
David's death is such a shame, it breaks my heart still 2 years later.
I really wish the new CD 'HOW HUMANS Rx' will come out.
If anyone didn't get the book yet I would strongly recommend it.

once again thank you so much for the awesome review!!! I replied to the other 2 reviews in the Order Form thread which explains MY reservations with the way I wrote the book...
it really means a lot to know everyone is enjoying the few stories I had with David... I'm sure he is shaking his head somewhere in Heaven right now.

other reviews so far (that have been either e-mailed to me, or posted online):
“I wanted to make sure that everyone…friends and family alike has the opportunity to purchase “David Reilly Memoirs”. This is a beautiful work telling the last 10+ years of David’s life from the perspective of his close friend Brian “Rocky” Paone. Rocky is a wonderful man that was nothing but a good influence on David. These are tales of the “Rock Star David” as well as “David the Friend”. This is a keepsake for generations to come. Help us get the word out and let David’s friends know that there is a beautiful book depicting a “Beautiful David”…” – Gretchen Reilly Runner, David’s sister
“You couldn't have done a better service to his memory than what you put together over the last 2 years. Your book explained his music to me from a completely new perspective. It's a shame that he died so young and even more that it happened when he had finally turned it all around. It really feels like he was stolen away. Reading your book has given me a feeling of closure and I can't thank you enough for giving me that. Thank you for writing this book.”
“I just wanted to let you know that I received the book yesterday. I also started it, and it's such a page-turner!! Fantastic work!”
“The beautifully written memoir, Dreams Are Unfinished Thoughts, describes the blossoming friendship between the intertwined souls of David Reilly and Brian Paone. This extremely moving account also reveals David’s everyday/human side for his fans to relate to. It is a must-read for anyone who appreciates David’s music and legacy.”

Well, it took my awhile to get my hands on this book. I purchased it the first night I saw the bulletin for it on myspace, I was so excited, that I forgot I was even moving out of the 'rents house. Then sometime in November I get the call from my mother saying "There's a package here for you." She said she was going to forward it to me, but that never happened....
Fast forward a few months til February 22nd, today, and the weird thing is now my family is moving, on the breaks between furniture and boxes, I sit on the floor engulfed in "Dreams are Unfinished thoughts". Finally after waiting all this time, all these months, I can read this wonderfully painted picture of people becoming good friends. Jawa, I haven't read far into the book yet, but You have done a fantastic job letting us all in on something so wonderful and personal. Thank you.

wow, I'm glad you finally got your hands on it! Its been 4 months since I sent you that package!!
Please let me know what you think of it when you are finished with it. I am still collecting "reviews" of the book from people; the more reviews I get, the better chance I have to get the book in big chain stores etc.

after waiting four months to read the book, I finished it, about 4 weeks ago, then I needed to find time to hop on here and let you know what I thought!
I can honestly say that I felt priviledged to get a glimpse at the friendship between Brian and David. Alot of people would have kept those memories to themselves, I honestly think. I read that book over the course of 4 days, between moving and resting.
I don't know about you, but I don't have any friends that are in bands, but being a fan I think I kind of hold these bands a little higher, I don't think about stuff like "what if I got to hang out with him? wouldn't that be cool?" I thought it was unattainable, you know? The closest I would ever get would be to see that band live, and even then you're seperated by (most of the time) railing and security guards. Untouchable. Unless you've got the guts to go up to that guy you think is in that band. Which I don't think I could do.
Getting to read this book was the closest thing to that. (The forum could beg to differ, since David interacted with these boards alot!)
To read about Davids interactions with Brian, You get to see the human side of the rockstar, in which he would act in the same way as anyone would in an embarassing situation. Human. We see David's ups and downs through the eyes of a good friend. Even after years just communicating through email and phone calls, you could see how strong the friendship was. I was able to see a side a David, that I would have never known, He was the lead singer of an awesome band to me, and that was all I thought I was priviledged to see.
Thanks, Brian.
P.S.
I'm sorry if I carried on a little long, or if any of it is even relevant, things are hectic and I am a little tired, but I've prolonged writing this more than enough!

The book
I got the book, its looks awesome.

"Brian,
I just got it a couple days ago, the book looks amazing. I've zipped through the first two chapters in the last hour (while jumping around GLU songs in the background). I can't seem to put the book down, its really touching, and so well written I feel like I'm actually there. I'm not ashamed to say I'm jealous, knowing David as well as you had, I'm so happy to get an insight of his life from so close a point of view. It's everything I thought it would be and more, thank you so much for sticking with this and finishing it for all of us.
Nick"
Ive gotten a little past chapter 5 I think at this point, I am actually at the part right after his solo concert, and the book is still impossible to put down. Brian I think you did such a wonderful job portraying everything so far, as I said it still feels like I am actually experiencing everything. I'll post more once I finish it. I also cannot wait to get the tribute CD everyone has been working on.
Anyways, I wanted to say hi, see how everyone was doing. I've been really busy jumping from jobs and living situations, but I'm glad to see everyone is still around.

thank you for that awesome review even though you arent done with it!!
As for the Tribute CD, I know it seems like I have been crying wolf, but remember, I am not the one releasing it so I am at the mercy of Randy.
He is doing the best he can with some stuff that came up in his personal life, but he assures me that it is VERY close to being released... so we will just have to wait a tad bit longer for it.
Hey, we are GLU fans, waiting is what we are good at!! *cough*upoffthefloor*cough*
