"so you have never heard of GLU?"

Post by Jawa242 »

If you happen to be talking about GLU to a friend, and they mentioned "I have never heard GLU before" (which has happened to me) "but I would like to hear them so burn me a cd" which cd of the 4 would you start a brand new listener on?

What is the #1 BEST introductory GLU cd in your eyes?

i put random mix, but i think i would have to re-assess my decision based on the person, like, what are they already into. Glu covered a lot of ground, so it is pretty easy to find stuff of theirs that matches anyones interests.

Yeah it really depends on what they are into.... GLU is very diverse...

The basis for this question is I recently became friends with someone who has never heard a GLU track in his life but wants to "check them out". So after much beating myself up over it, I decdied to start where I started: the GLU cd and work his way up through the albums in perfect order.

That would depend on the tastes of the person in question. If I had to choose: LITSCSA is my favorite, but I think it takes some time to appreciate. Empty sounds a little dated, it screams '90s. UOTF is probably the most accessible.

I agree with you, this person is the same age as me so we went through the 90s in our teens listening to Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, Korn, Alice In Chains, Nirvana, Pearl Jam etc as they came out.

I dont mean to say GLU sounds like any of those bands, I'm just showing where his musical roots are placed, like mine.

Now my wife, when I met her had never heard GLU either so when we were dating I burnt her GLU to start and she didnt like it that much but fell in love with UOTF
