What songs give you the chills?
... or make your stomach flutter no matter how many times you've heard them?
Last night I was watching Friday Night Lights on cable and they played New Noise by Refused. I don't know why it hit me so hard this time except that it fit the moment. It was a also a surprise because it's an anachronism and I'm used to no one knowing who they are. I #### you not, I was still feeling shaky for a while after it ended even though they didn't play the whole song. What are some songs that do that for you?
Here's a few of mine:
Deftones - Digital Bath
The feeling of release in the vocals and music during the "I feel like more" line.
Blind Melon - The Pusher
The way his voice breaks when he says "god damn".
Jane's Addiction - Three Days
The long guitar solo in the middle.
Tool - The Patient
The whole song is summed up by the way he sings the first few words.
Radiohead - Climbing Up The Walls
He really sounds like he's climbing the walls when he sings that line.
Alice In Chains - Unplugged
Pretty much every song on this album. That half dead junkie could still sing and they sounded great accoustic. I'm still amazed by how well their music translated for an accoustic show.

Cortez the Killer - Dave Matthews Band, I recently purchased his Live in Central park...He has this friend named Warren Haynes, and this guy wails on the guitar. it sends a shiver up my spine when I hear this song I have to listen to it atleast twice more. great 3 disc set for 15 bucks too. if you're into DMB.
GLU - Tricked
Story of my #### life.
Jamiroquai - Spend a Lifetime
The song of my heart, too bad it rarely gets to play it.
Slipknot - The Blister Exists
For some reason, that makes me want to hurt people in the middle east and Africa (you know who you are)....A great song to blare from our ahbrams and humvees.
Toto - Big Battle
Dune, know it, love it, live it...Long live the fighters of Muad'Dib!
Erasure - Take a Chance on Me
I think it's my mind telling me "You might be gay if you like this"...and I do.
David Bowie - Suffragette City
Frankly, the whole album of the Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust was incredible, but this song makes me want to do synchronized air guitar.
I am sure I can think of more later...

Awesome, I love the Dune sound track, toto rocks. Loved the movie for years too. I wasn't a huge fan of the remakes though. the books are great as well. We could save this talk though for a more appropriate area of discussion though. I also love classical music. My radio has a preset for NPR. which I listen to on occasion. listening to classical can also send shivers up my spine. I think it's just the sheer amount of instruments used. and when they all hop in the boat together it produces something magnificent.
Talking about soundtracks I can't wait to hear the Doom Soundtrack..... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0419706/ for info.... Apparently the Rock is playing the part of Sarge.... Isn't Trent working on the soundtrack??? Or was it only for the video game......

I know trent worked on the stuff for the game, but I have no idea if he has a role with the major motion picture soundtrack. It would rock if he did. But I foresee alot of heavy metal riffs. If you are hankering for some Doom music anyways I have this websites in my favorites
http://doom.ocremix.org/
there are some awesome songs there available for download, created and covered music by fans of the game. I've heard a few metal-ish songs melded with some electronics, and some techno-ish stuff. So if you're curious you can check that out.

I just hope its not like a bad remake of a game...... SO far it does look good.... It kind of resembles Resident Evil though..... That movie I think was pretty good.... As far as remaking video games in to movies that is..... Street Fighter was horrible..... Mortal Kombat wasn't that bad.... But it could have been better......

Yeah, I actually liked the Resident Evil movies. So far they take the lead for good video game movie translations. I also liked Mortal Kombat. the second mortal kombat movie was a different story though. Apparently there is going to to a new MK movie. Street Fighter was horrible. so was Super Mario Bros. I was 11 when I saw it and I hated it then. So, Yeah... I pray that Doom doesn't suck.
Funny enough that I never mentioned Super Mario Bros since I hated it myself..... I kind of blocked it away from my memory..... I too hope Doom is good..... I do however agree that the Resident Evil movies are so far the best ones that came from the video games...... Even though there are some misunderstandings in the movie from the game they stuck to the game as best as they could I guess..... Also another classic for me was Spawn..... But thats a comic book themed movie..... Spider-Man takes the trophy for that..... Both of them......

I liked the Animated Spawn, but the live action movie was just ok. John Leguizamo cracked me up though as the clown. and I would have to say X-men myself. but I do enjoy Spiderman as well. there are a whole crapload of comic book movies out. I remember when I was younger, and there was a Punisher movie starring Dolph Lundgren...Captain America which I remember liking as a kid. There was a Spiderman live action movie made in the 80's and it was laughable. they rigged spiderman to a crane. and it lifted him up the side of the building. and he mimicked a spider crawling up.
at like 1 mile per hour.
and then the other sequence I remembered was him walking along the edge of a building, and the camera was going all whacky. it was soooo corny. and If I'm going to bring up The Punisher, I might as well bring up Nick F.U.R.Y. starring David freakin' Hasselhoff. I don't know if Swamp Thing was a comic book...but that movie rocked even for how corny it was. Some solidified swamp sludge man gets it on with some hot blonde bimbo. jesus look at me, I'm blabbering.
