God Lives Underwater Tribute Artwork

Post by JSL »

Randy from the tribute wants very much for the online community to give feedback for the artwork, and I'm very happy to oblige him.

I'm starting this thread so we can leave the other one for music only. You can post votes, art requests, or any feedback here. Also, let me know if you're submitting music to the tribute that needs artwork if you'd like me to create some. Examples of this type of art will be posted as soon as I make some time (which will be sooner than later).

I'll be posting art for the tribute on my MySpace page:

www.myspace.com/jsl_comedy
Ignore the comedy, the art's in the blog.

The first vote was for the first round of color schemes. This is my first draft of the front cover art. (Four choices)

1) Red/Blue TyeDye Orb
2) Yellow/Black Acid Wash
3) Brown/Orange Burnt Sienna
4) Blue/Teal Ocean Water Theme

So far, I have one vote for Acid Wash (Randy), and two for Burnt Sienna (Me & asamorris).

>>Damn I am outnumbered by one....<<

I'm not sure it matters. A vote implies multiple people declaring a preference, and thus, bringing us to a closer understanding of what a majority of people prefer so we can deliver it.

Three people does not a "vote" make, especially if two of the three are ME and YOU.

I am quite partial to the yellow and black. Very dramatic!

I posted some concept art for the tribute in my blog, pending approval and songlist. Post any feedback either here or on MySpace.

Thanks!

can you give a basic color description of the color choices. It may sound dumb, but i'm not sure what "blue tiedie orb" is!
Blue i presume.
Anyway, i have some pics of David....i'll send them this week.
I'll have to color them....soo i need to know what the colors are...
or if someone else wants to do the coloring....that would be ok with me.

Color Description

Post by JSL »

:?: I'm at a bit of a loss.

I'm not sure how much more description I can do, or how much easier I can make this process. I think it would be best if you could just click the MySpace link

www.myspace.com/jsl_comedy

and go to the appropriate blog entry. There are two, and both have the words "Tribute Art" in them. There you will find uploaded jpegs of the art. One post is for the covers mentioned above, and the other is for concept art for individual songs. The four cover descriptions are in respective order. Red/Blue TyeDye Orb is first, etc. Hope this helps.

Would it be better if I opened another account, perhaps in blogspot where I can make the images larger? Being that I can count the comments on the art on one hand, I'm not entirely sure it's worth the effort, but I'll do it if it's requested.

If you have pictures of Dave you'd like included in the booklet, by all means send them. I have no problem coloring it if need be. Just make sure you scan them at high resolution (minimum 300ppi).

i like them, the wings especially. maybe back cover, or inner jacket?

wait, how are we doing this? are we going guerilla style with slim cases and cdr's? or are we going as professional as possible?

I really like this one. It's a little plain, but there's something special about it.

y'know, we should pimp this to dave sherman. maybe to nitrus.

i hate to be the materialistic weasel of the bunch, but this could be a chance us to really make it big. Im sure we'd all have alot to gain from this
