Also, you know the Jesus statue underwater on the cover of Empty? There is a statue just like that in Cozumel mexico (well used to be, it wasnt there last time I went there). It is underwater in the Chankanaab peninsula and I always wondered if that was the same statue, let me know if u have any info on that.

I thought it was "The Christ of the Abyss" off the Florida Keys... but don't think I ever saw an offical comment on it.
Nice pic of the FL one.

yep, that's the one.emagicaudio wrote:I thought it was "The Christ of the Abyss" off the Florida Keys... but don't think I ever saw an offical comment on it.
when the album came out, we were asked about it all the time, and i know that sometimes we told the truth, but after being asked over and over again, we used to make crap up about where it came from, so if you find an article online, there's no telling what we might've said about it.
anyway, yes, it's the statue off the Florida Keys. the photographers took so many amazingly beautiful images of it, it was really hard to pick one. we actually didn't even want to use that kind of image when we were told about it, because we thought it was a bit too obvious, but when we saw how beautiful the images were, we were all blown away. Gary has a few of the other images framed in large format. they're amazing.
a goal of mine is to go diving off the Keys and find that thing...we'll see...

while we are on the subject...
who though of the concept for the cover of Life In the So-Called Space Age, and how did you guys make it? it looks like sme 50's spacey-inspired toy-building background with some dude pasted on there... and how'd you get all those little pieces of paper to look like it was to scale to the buildings and make em all scattery liek that on the interior?
i love that cover... yeah it insinuates something negative, but in its context, REAL life in the so called space age is negative in a lot of ways, and i can completely understand why the fictional dude on the cover is so willing to jump off the frickin ledge!!
