<--- although this smiley is supposedly laughing, it looks more like its choking or coughing.
Anyway, I apologize 100 times over for my end dragging on like this, esp when I said I should have something done by the end of Jan. Well, once again I have to say drummers suck. I think we are on the verge of losing ours (and I have been playing with him for a long time, maybe 12-15 years). If that is the case I promise I will sit and program drums till the cows come home if I have to, and I will have something as soon as humanly possible. And hopefully it won't suck

i.m.o., you all should do covers of whatever songs you want and then when the final listing is all done and finished you all can remove or keep whatever cover mp3s that you have. and do it soon otherwise i ll jsut think you are all full of baloney.

CPR GLU TRIBUTE

We are actually working on putting together a CPR GLU Tribute album that we're planning to put out sometime this year or next.. we might actually include the tracks from the INSIDE EP on it, or maybe as a bonus disc..i dunno.. Honestly, it's something we've been kicking around since long BEFORE Dave passed on, (I think I might have even mentioned it on here long ago) but now we have a renewed reason.
Anyway, if any of you guys want to contribute your tracks for consideration, i'll definitely check them out.
thom@corporatepunishment.com
Also, i'm not sure if you guys are planning to try to actually put something out with all of this stuff, and ifso the scope of it, but if you do just be careful. (If you guys are just doing this to throw on an FTP somewhere, or trade it around, then disregard all of this.) You would need to acquire mechanical licenses from EMI for any and ALL of the God Lives Underwater songs, as they control the publishing to the GLU catalog. (Any cover version or anything not written by you appearing on any kind of commercial release requires a mechanical license from the publisher.)
And please keep in mind, using your OWN recorded version of a song, and a GLU recorded version of a song (Choirboy) are two different things, and make sure you understand the legality of both. To use a RERECORDED version of a song, all that is required is a mechanical license, but actually using a RECORDED version of a GLU song requires a seperate license from whoever OWNS the master recording (my guess would be Megaforce, or maybe Jeff and Dave, or possibly one of the EARLIER labels who were supposed to put out UOTF, RIFFAGE or someone) which is obviously tricky because it is a B side that was SUPPOSED to be on a record, and there's a lot of Gray area.
No disrespect to Dave S., but I saw someone mention in a post that he OK'ed someone to include (from my understanding, maybe I read it
completely wrong) the RECORDING of Choir Boy on something, which he wouldn't have the authority to do, unless of course, HE himself owned the master recording and the copyrights.
Anyway, definitely not trying to piss on anyone's parade, I just don't want to see anyone get in trouble trying to do something good.

of course, we understand
why cant there be a remix disc somewhere in the works too? some of you guys have done some REALLY swell remixes (i.e., positivity + slip to fall)...

to rooster for the most part:
what other artists on on the CP tribute? anyone noteworthy? just curious.
also, when it comes to getting mechanical licences on a tribute record, who has to acquire and deal with the legalities, artists, or label? not that we here have a label to back us, but, you know.
oh, and my "FYM" cover is almost done. Fast. Heavy. Not obnoxious though. Brought an "Empty" feel to it.
