why does music suck nowadays?

It almost seems like the whole industrial rock thing just up and evaporated...That's what I was always into the most. GLU of course, but like gravity kills, Stabbing Westward, Sister Machine Gun(they're still around... but not the same) KMFDM... Maybe it's just a sign I'm getting old. It's all recycled from the from the 80's, which I didn't care for the first time around. It's like I've heard it all before. I'm even starting to lose interest in my own music now...

yeah, they couldnt take the fact that even with their success they still couldnt be as good as glu

problem is that no one's finding any barriers and breaking them, everything tries to conform to a style so it can be marketed and made into profit. the last true evolutions in music were the electronic musoicians in the 80's and hip hop, everything after that just kind of stayed more or less the same. now bands pretty much find a style and stay with it. with bands like chevelle and staind, finger eleven are obviously trying hard to be like another tool. even though, i like some of these bands, i still have to admit that the originality and progress is lacking. not that i am or was any better, but i admit there is a stagnancy

Yeah Stabbing Westward broke up... I was referring to SMG! SW had their moments....but you're right Drine, they were no GLU!

yeah, i love stabing westward, dont get me wrong, but it just didn't make me shiver the way glu did. no goosebumps. sw was just always kind of a casual listening band

yeah they had some good stuff. i like skinny puppy. i saw them on tour in 2004. it was really good. i also like front 242 and wumscut and some other industrial acts. im not as fond of ministry as i used to be...but psalm 69 is awesome... filth pig is pretty god too. some ppl i know dont like psalm 69...wtf??? jesus built my f u c k i n g hotrod!!!!!!! anyway...

i actually realized how jaded ive become with the world of rock music. ive been listening to wayyyyy more hip-hop, reggaeton ("reggae-TONE"), gangsta rap, and r+b. im wicked into like sean paul and rihanna and all that stuff too. its fun to dance to!!! and that new Nelly song really gets me going.

and if i listen to rock i just stick will college stations. btw w.e.r.s. streams online free of charge: http://www.wers.org i really like the yeah yeah yeahs again, gorillaz, beck + nine inch nail's new stuff and the postal service but other than that i just stick to listening to my mp3s.

oh is it just me, or has green day just kinda 'lost' what they had? i know they had quite a few gems for singles on their latest disc, but um, to me i get aggravated cuz i'm still expecting a kerplunk or a dookie...ahah... not that all albums should be the same, but i guess if i feel like listening to punk, i'd better stick with bad religion, nofx, new found glory and all that good stuff

I can't stand reggaeton. Here in L.A. it's real big but it bores the hell out of me. I never could stand dancehall and this new derivative is even worse.

for anyone interested in what some former members of SW are doing, Chris Hall the singer has had a band called The Dreaming for a few years and it is really reminicent of Darkest Days, their my space website is http://www.myspace.com/thedreaming

mind you, i listen to this while dancing with hot brazilian guys and while really really drunk... sometimes it does give me a headache so i go outside...

Speaking of Stabbing Westward, their drummer Andy Kubiewski (something like that) was playing with Prick last I knew. When I saw Prick a couple years ago he was drumming for them and I believe he played on the Prick album "The Wreckard". http://www.prickmusic.com

Wow thanks for that info about the Dreaming.... Yeah they do remind me of the darkest days.... But still its great stuff.....
